Tensiones admisibles de la madera aserrada de aromo (Acacia dealbata D. Link.) clasificada visualmenteLibroEl presente estudio tuvo como objetivo caracterizar la madera aserrada de Acacia dealbata, mediante clasificación visual, en dos grados de calidad (N°2 y mejor, y N°4 y mejor), según norma chilena NCh 1970/1 y la ejecución de ensayos físicos y mecánicos bajo norma chilena NCh 3028 para definir sus propiedades físicas y mecánicas asociadas. La muestra empleada para los ensayos constó de 699 piezas de 3,2 m o 4 m de largo y 2” x 4” de escuadría, obtenidas del área de Loncoche, Provincia de Cautín en la Región de Araucanía. Todos los ensayos fueron realizados en el Laboratorio de Madera Estructural del Instituto Forestal (LME-INFOR) en Concepción, laboratorio acreditado ISO 17025. Principales resultadosArtículo de revistaEl Instituto Forestal desde sus inicios ha desarrollado investigaciones sobre especies del género Acacia. A comienzos de los años 60 del siglo pasado se iniciaron los programas de introducción de especie forestales al país en los cuales fueron incluidas numerosas de ellas traídas de Australia. Con el transcurso de los años han destacado especialmente, por su adaptación y buen desarrollo, especies del género como Acacia dealbata Link., Acacia melanoxylon R. Br. y Acacia mearnsii D. Wild. En años más recientes INFOR ha realizado diferentes investigaciones orientadas a su silvicultura y manejo y a definir las propiedades físicas y mecánicas de sus maderas y sus aptitudes de uso, para posteriormente abordar un fuerte programa de difusión y transferencia tecnológica orientado a dar a conoces las experiencias y resultados de las investigaciones, enfocado en especial en pequeños y medianos propietarios forestales y pequeños y medianos industriales de la madera.
