Efecto de diferentes dosis de radiación gamma en una plantación recién establecida de Eucalyptus nitens en la Región del BiobíoArtículo de revistaLa aplicación de bajas dosis de radiación gamma conocida como “hórmesis” tiene efectos metabólicos y fisiológicos de corto plazo en las plantas, que en algunas experiencias ha permitido aumentar la germinación de las semillas, el enraizamiento de las estacas y el crecimiento inicial de las plantas. Existiría además una relación con efectos epigenéticos que se manifestarían como respuestas adaptativas en las especies irradiadas. Para dilucidar la magnitud de los efectos de hórmesis se irradió semillas de Eucalyptus nitens con dosis de 0, 10, 20 y 30 Gy de radiación gamma, la semilla se viverizó y las plantas obtenidas se establecieron en un ensayo en terreno (agosto, 2021). En este trabajo se presentan los resultados de la primera evaluación de este ensayo, después de una temporada de crecimiento en terreno, y se discute respecto de la existencia de efecto de las dosis de irradiación sobre el crecimiento inicial de plantas de E. nitens en condiciones de plantación forestal. Análisis de germinación de semillas de Eucalyptus nitens tratadas con radiación gamma: indicios de efecto horméticoArtículo de revistaSe analiza un ensayo de germinación en laboratorio para evaluar el efecto de cinco dosis de radiación gamma (10, 20, 30, 40 y 50 Gy) más un testigo sin irradiar, sobre los parámetros capacidad de germinación (CG), energía germinativa (EG) y periodo de energía (PE) de semillas de Eucalyptus nitens. Se concluye la existencia de un efecto significativo de radio-hórmesis asociado al tratamiento de 10 Gy, el cual aumenta la capacidad germinativa respecto al testigo sin irradiar. Ninguno de los tratamientos restantes resulta diferente al testigo en capacidad germinativa, energía germinativa ni periodo de energía. Se comparan los resultados con los registrados en la bibliografía y se plantean recomendaciones para estudios posteriores en esta materia.
